Phoenix Suns lineup and depth chart: Centers

  1. Deandre Ayton
  2. Dario Saric
  3. Damian Jones
  4. Jalen Smith

Deandre Ayton had an amazing All-Star quality February last season when he averaged 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks a game. He was turning into the player that Suns fans were hoping he would be as the first pick in the 2018 NBA draft. But a few months later in the Bubble, he became very pedestrian where every statistic went down dramatically. It was so bad that he averaged more fouls and turnovers together than assists, steals, and blocks combined. I can’t help but think that with CP3 hitting him with passes in all the right places that he will be more like February’s Ayton more often than not in this upcoming season.

Saric will get most of the minutes at the backup center while Damian Jones who is a quick jumper, a great help player on defense will more than likely get into games when Ayton is in foul trouble or needing a breather while Saric is playing the power forward.

Again Jalen Smith will get in more games, get more minutes as he proves himself to coach Williams.

In short, this Phoenix Suns team is one of the deepest and best defensive Suns teams that I can remember and there is little doubt that they will make some noise this season.
