#1: Devin Booker
Coming in at #1, is Devin Booker with a 55 point rating from the Phoenix Suns. Devin earns the top spot with his 3rd position ranking among shooting guards in field goal percentage, #1 in free throw percentage, and 4th in the group in scoring.
Wait! We have a coach’s challenge from Doc Rivers. He says Paul George is the best! Let’s take a quick look.
Because of my seemingly random “50 game minimum” qualifier, Paul George with 48 games did not qualify for my list. But I do have a good reason: to qualify for league leaders in NBA scoring you must play in 70% of your team’s games.
George did not, as I just wrote he played in 48 games. If he had played in 50, he would be on top of the final leader board of shooting guards with a 53-point ranking.
Paul George was in single digits in all categories, but field-goal percentage where he came in 11th.
Upon Further Review…Paul George is the best shooting guard based on his 53 point total here where he destroyed Devin Booker from three, #1 in this group…and his overall play in other categories is important to the game and this position as a tiebreaker.
But what you do think, should two games keep Paul George from the best shooter trophy, or should the Phoenix Suns claim the best shooting guard in the league?
