#1: Minnesota Timberwolves | Obi Toppin

As I just have just written, the T’Wolves have two very interesting restricted free agents. Let’s look at the first, Malik Beasley who played and started 14-games with Minnesota prior to the Covid-19 shutdown.

In those games, Malik averaged 20.7 points and 5.1 rebounds. He did this while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 42.6 percent clip from long range. At 6’4″ and 23 yrs old, they have their shooting guard of the future.

He is a restricted free agent.

Rather than pay boom or more than likely bust Anthony Edwards $11 million, they’ll pay the guy that has shown he can do it on the NBA level.

The Minnesota Timberwolves with the first pick in the draft select, power forward Obi Toppin from THE Ohio State.

Toppin is the men’s college basketball player of the year. He stands 6’9″, and weighs in at 220 lbs. He averaged 20 points, grabbed 7.5 rebounds while shooting 63 percent from the field and 39 percent from distance at Ohio State.

He’s the most NBA ready player. He has a high offensive basketball IQ, good low post player, good passer, and is like a gazelle running the floor.

On the downside, he is a below-average defender that does not move laterally well, picks confuse him at times, and he doesn’t block out well.

Again, all the players in this draft have warts. Defense is Obi’s.

Comparison: Marvin Bagley Jr, with a better shot.
