The Phoenix Suns could be looking to add another piece to their team this offseason, and all-time great, Chris Pau, would be a great fit.

The Phoenix Suns are coming off of a super exciting 8-0 run and overall improved season, and yet they may look to make major offseason changes. Would they pursue Chris Paul, an established All-Time great point guard, and still a very dominant player, after seeing what he did with Oklahoma City’s roster there?

Before the start of the season, the Oklahoma City Thunder were projected to be one of the worst teams in the entire NBA after the Russell Westbrook trade. However, newly acquired Chris Paul blocked out all the noise and led the Thunder to a 44-28 record which was good enough for fifth place in the Western Conference. CP3 averaged 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game and was selected for his tenth All-Star game. The Thunder took the Rockets to Game-7 in the first round, and even though they lost, fans can be proud of what Chris Paul did with an underwhelming roster.

Chris Paul would be a great fit for the Phoenix Suns.

Chris Paul would bring so many positives to this Suns team, and his relationship with Monty Williams is definitely a huge plus. Paul has averaged 9.5 assists per game in his career and the NBA’s All-Time leader in steals. Devin Booker would have his best leader yet Paul has one of the best IQs in the history of the game.

Paul would also have a huge impact on Deandre Ayton. Paul would make Ayton work hard throughout the game and hold him accountable for his on-court decisions. Ayton would also get much better passes thrown to him than he has ever had at any level. Paul could teach Ayton when to roll to the basket and how to find his shot without handling the ball.

Now the only problem with trading for CP3 is his massive contract. Chris is making $44+ million a year and has had a history of injuries. In order for the Suns to make a Chris Paul trade work salary wise would be sending both Rubio and Oubre over to Oklahoma City, which I know almost many Suns fans are against. Not only would the Suns have to trade away two fan favorites after both having career years, but they would probably have to add in some draft compensation.

Ultimately, Paul would easily be a great fit and a winning move, but you wonder how desperate James Jones is to make the playoffs now or play more of the long-game.
