Power forwards options the Phoenix Suns should MAYBE consider

Jerami Grant: Jerami Grant of the Denver Nuggets is a 26-year-old restricted free agent. His current contract is $9.3 million and it is my opinion he will opt-out, and rightfully join the ranks for the 8-figure club.

He is the same height and weight as Cam Johnson and has a solid three-point shot. However, Grant is not a great mid-range shooter and his floater leaves a lot to be desired.

In addition, he is a below-average rebounder, but he is a better defender and more athletic than anyone on the Phoenix Suns currently. He is not a lockdown defender, but he almost is a lockdown defender with very active hands.

On a side note, the Suns were looking at Grant during the last trade deadline.

His projected contract is between $12 million to $14 million.

Paul Millsap: Paul Millsap, the other Nugget power forward, is 35 years old. He is 6’7″, a beefy 257-pounder that was paid $30 million last season.

Millsap is a savvy defender with a high basketball IQ. He plays power forward for the Nuggets and has logged time at center. He would bring a defensive mentality to the Suns that they just don’t have. Oh, and by the way, he can also shoot really well!

His projected contract is also between $12 million to $14 million.

So, let’s compare these two players versus Dario Saric:

Dario Saric

  • Season: 10.7 points / 47.6 field goal percent / 35.7 percent from deep and 6.2 rebounds.
  • Last 12 games: 16 points / 67 field goal percent/ 58% percent from 3-point, 7.4 rebounds

Jerami Grant

  • Season: 12 points / 47.8 field goal percent / 38.9 percent 3-point / 3.5 rebounds.

Paul Millsap

  • Season: 11.6 points / 48.2  field goal percent / 43.5 percent from 3-point range  / 5.7 rebounds.
