Jordan Clarkson would be the ideal backup point guard for the Phoenix Suns
Is a combination of Cameron Payne and Jevon Carter the answer for backup point guard next season for the Phoenix Suns?
Maybe.
They both played tremendously in the bubble, but the question James Jones will have to ask himself is if that level of play will be sustainable over 82 games (assuming the league gets 82 games in next season).
If Jones has doubts and chooses not to leverage the 10th overall pick, a player like Jordan Clarkson might be available in free agency and would be the perfect fit to fill the void behind Ricky Rubio.
Clarkson has performed extremely well off the bench for the Jazz after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers midway through the season. He is a score-first point guard (not unlike Cameron Payne) who has put up 15.6 points per contest with the Jazz. That kind of production and point guard stability would be huge for the Suns moving forward.
