4. Greg Howard (1970)

In the Phoenix Suns third season of existence, they landed the 10th overall pick and with it, took a guy by the name of Greg Howard out of the University of New Mexico. Well, sort of. He actually played a year in Italy for Brill Cagliari before coming to the NBA.

Howard was a 6’9″ power forward who did not exactly take the league by storm. In this rookie season with the Suns, he managed just 3.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 44 appearances. Coincidently, he wore uniform number 44, just five years before the aforementioned Paul Westphal would come to town and make it his own.

Howard only played one year in Phoenix before shipping off to Cleveland for his sophomore campaign. That would be his final season in the NBA.

He is the guy wearing number 40 on the far left in the above picture, making for a nice little backdrop in this Kareem poster.
