The Phoenix Suns have drafted 10th in the NBA draft four times in the past. Let’s look at who they took and rank them in order of success.

The Phoenix Suns will be drafting 10th overall in the 2020 NBA draft and barring a trade, it will make the fifth time in team history they pick 10th.

The Suns have had more success in the last decade drafting in the 10-14 range than they have had drafting in the top 5 so that points towards a hopeful draft day. Phoenix Suns aside, there have been some notable players come off the board at 10.

To name a few of the best players to be  drafted #10 in the last 20 years:

  • C.J. McCollum (2013)
  • Paul George (2010)
  • Brook Lopez (2008)
  • Caron Butler (2002)

There have also been some great Suns players who were drafted at 10, just not by the Suns:

  • Joe Johnson (2001)
  • Kurt Thomas (1995)
  • Paul Westphal (1972)

That’s right, Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor member, Paul Westphal, was drafted by the Boston Celtics back in 1972 in the 10th spot. By the way, keep sending positive vibes his way as he battles brain cancer.

Let’s take a look at who the Suns have drafted themselves at #10 overall and rank them from worst to best:
