Phoenix Suns Draft: 2020 NBA Mock Draft 1.0
#23: Miami Heat: Tre Jones | Point Guard | Duke
The first word that pops into my head when watching Tre Jones play basketball is smooth. The guy can simply play the game, and if he were taller (rather than undersized at 6’2″), he may be a lottery pick.
Jones did a little bit of everything for the Blue Devils this season, but most importantly, he led them. He averaged 16.2 points, 1.8 steals, and 6.4 assists, including a 2.37:1 assist to turnover ratio. On top of that, he essentially never came out of the game. In 16 of Duke’s 29 games, Jones played 37 minutes or more, showing Coach K had supreme confidence in his point guard.
The biggest knock on Jones outside of his size is his shooting ability. He is just okay from deep, shooting at 36.1 percent from behind the arc, but good enough to not throw up any major red flags.
If the Heat could snag him late in the first round, they would add another young, talented player to an already young, talented roster.
