1. DeMarcus Cousins
If there has been one player who benefited from the hiatus, it is DeMarcus Cousins. Boogie has been incredibly unlucky with injuries the last two years and although he signed with the Los Angles Lakers this season, he never got a chance to play before the team was forced to waive him.
Even after that, he stayed with the team and continued to rehab. At one point, his goal was to be ready to play for the playoffs, and now that the playoffs got pushed back three months, he very well may be ready to suit up.
The Lakers will likely have first dibs (and I’d be surprised if they don’t re-sign him) but if he is truly on the market, the Phoenix Suns should definitely scoop him up.
Many teams are skeptical of signing him for next season (although the Suns shouldn’t be), as he will be an unrestricted free agent, so what better way to decide whether or not he is worth the risk than to test the waters for eight games?
See if he meshes with Monty Williams, how he plays off Devin Booker, and how he plays beside Deandre Ayton. It would also show the Suns are serious about making a run for the playoffs.
Come on, James Jones. Join Team Boogie!
