4. “The Round Mound of Rebound” Charles Barkley

Arguably the best player to ever suit up for the Phoenix Suns also had one of the best nicknames. “The Round Mound of Rebound” is a mouthful but manages to rhyme nearly word that isn’t an article and perfectly describes everything is Charles Barkley.

While most great rebounders are tall, one of the best rebounders in NBA history was more round and mound-shaped. On top of that, its overall silly yet clever nature perfectly embodies Barkley’s personality.

It also served as inspiration for one of my favorite NFL player nicknames, “The Round Mound of Touchdown” assigned to the late Jared Lorenzen, the 300-pound quarterback who won a Super Bowl with the New York Giants.

While it doesn’t necessarily roll off the tongue when casually referring to Barkley, it is still one of the best nicknames in team history.
