12. “The Polish Hammer” Marcin Gortat

“The Polish Hammer” sounds like the name of a heavyweight WWE wrestler. Either that or the name of a devastating finishing maneuver of a heavyweight WWE wrestler.

Either way, the name is fierce, and if you didn’t know what Marcin Gortat looked like, just hearing it would paint the perfect portrait in your mind.

Gortat was an underrated big man in the NBA and had the best statistical year of his career when he was with the Phoenix Suns. He may not be remembered too fondly, though, after he called the franchise a, “Brothel on wheels,” last summer.

Still, his nickname will forever live amongst the greats.
