After hearing about the time the Suns signed Tom Van Arsdale as a courtesy to his brother, Zoran Dragic poked his head out from behind a bush and said, “Did someone say courtesy signing?”

Back in the 2014-2015 season, during Goran Dragic‘s second stint with the Phoenix Suns, the team decided to go all-in on point guards. I can only speculate, but my assumption is Goran wasn’t too keen on this gameplan so in an effort to appease him, they signed his brother, Zoran.

If this was the strategy, it didn’t work. Goran all but demanded a trade saying something to the effect of, “I can go stand in the corner somewhere else,” before later clarifying, “Although my recent words came out harsher than I’d intended, I did feel it was time to find a better fit for me as a basketball player.”

In response, the Suns essentially said, “Well, so much for courtesy-signing his scrub brother,” and subsequently traded them both to the Miami Heat.

Zoran only played six games with the Suns, scoring six total points.
