3. Chris Morris #34

Now let’s get into some real travesties. Charles Barkley is one of the best players to play the game and he did some of his best playing with the Phoenix Suns. Even though he was only in the Valley four seasons, he led the Suns to some great seasons including that incredible 1992-1993 season where he won MVP and came close to upending the Chicago Bulls’ first 3-peat. He rightfully deserves his place in the Ring of Honor.

However, immediately after his departure, players coming in didn’t mind stealing his #34. Just two seasons after he left, Antonio McDyess wore the number during this one year stint in Phoenix, 1998. Coincidently, when McDyess returned to the Suns later in his career (2004), he went with #14 instead.

The other, and considerably worse player to wear #34 post-Barkley, was Chris Morris.

Morris was at the tail end of his decent NBA career, but during his time in Phoenix, he mustered just 4.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Like so many others on this list, that 1999 season would be the last of his NBA career.
