Jevon Carter

Grade: B+

Stats: 4.6 points, 1.3 assists, 0.8 steals per game

The Bulldog, Jevon Carter, endeared himself with the fan base with his aggressive defense, his surprisingly-consistent 3-point shot, and most importantly, his mismatched shoes.

In my opinion, Carter is the perfect minimum-salary player. He makes very little mistakes, has a niche on the team which he embraces, and when it comes to celebrating, he encouraged more fans to get out of their seats and make noise than the Solar Squad and Red Panda combined.

I have a hard time justifying giving a guy who averages less than five points a game an A grade, but for his role on the team and his salary, Carter is far above league average.

He’s never going to be a consistent starting point guard in this league, but he earned the backup job (even though it took a while) just before the season went into hiatus, and it was well-deserved.

He even turned heads in the NBA2K Players tournament when Deandre Ayton drilled three 3-pointers in the first quarter with this character against Patrick Beverley. Like a good teammate, DA defended Carter on ESPN, giving him more national publicity than he likely would have received if the season hadn’t abruptly ended.

Carter is another guy with whom the Suns will have a decision to make, but I say, bring him back. The Bulldog’s gotta eat.
