#3: Phoenix Suns Purple “Wild West” Jersey

These are truly the classic Phoenix Suns uniforms,  a hearkening back to the “Madhouse on McDowell” days.

First debuted in 1973, these would be the Suns road uniforms until 1991.

So many great Phoenix Suns wore these uniforms over the years including the three guys featured in this classic photo, Dan Majerle, Kevin Johnson and Tom Chambers.

These “Wild West” uniforms have an “OK Corral” feel to them and the old western type font for “Phoenix” on the front of the uniforms honors Arizona’s history as a western territory that was still very undeveloped when the Suns first arrived in 1968.

The orange numbers and white outlining are a nice aesthetic and you can forgive the 1970s looking sunburst on the shorts.

The Suns branding and color scheme are true to the personality of the desert and these uniforms were as well.
