There have been many great moments in Phoenix Suns history, but there a few that stand out above the rest. Here are the top five.

By now, you may have seen my ugly mug atop too many Valley of the Suns articles spouting off my top 5 moments in Phoenix Suns history in horrible audio quality. I know I have, and it weirds me out. I can only imagine what it must be like for you.

Anyway, I felt some justification for those picks is in order. After all, “moments” can mean a lot of different things depending on the audience and Suns fans don’t exactly have any championship-clinching game-winners fans can easily point to and universally agree as the best thing ever.

In fact, the chunk of fans surveyed from the Valley of the Suns Twitter account on this topic all had wildly different opinions. When solicited for best Suns moments, fans gave dozens and dozens of different responses, but no single moment had more than five submissions.

To put it mildly, Phoenix Suns fans don’t have a consensus on the top 5 moments in team history.

So, in order to narrow this down, I ruled out a few categories some folks called, “moments.” For example, I threw out, “Drafting Devin Booker,” as a moment because, while obviously extremely pivotal, didn’t make fans lose their minds in the moment.

I also threw out negative (slightly sarcastic?) moments such as, “Sarver buys the Suns.” Obviously that put the franchise on a much

worse

different track than it had seen in recent history, but again, it didn’t invoke crazy emotion at the time.

Finally, I threw out entire games and serieses. Sure, Devin Booker’s 70 point game was awesome and the Suns sweeping the Spurs in the 2010 playoffs was the redemption many people needed, but for moments, I wanted to get all the way down to the play.

Those singular moments when the ball goes through the net and every hair on Suns fans’ skin stands up and cheers along with the rest of the body. Those plays are rare and great, and at the end of the day, why we all thrive on sports so much. We all want that adrenaline rush of success.

These are my top 5 of those moments in Phoenix Suns history:
