Quarter 1:

  • 12:00: The Suns 3-and-D extraordinaire Raja Bell was suspended for Game 6 after his infamous clothesline of Kobe Bryant in Game 5. He is clearly their best defender and their best attempt at guarding Kobe Bryant.
  • 12:00: Seeing skinny Boris was a lovely sight. He really did have an offensive game similar to Draymond almost a decade before Draymond revolutionized the center position in the Warriors “death lineup.”
  • 7:58: Smush Parker turnover leads to Suns and Nash three-pointer, nothing but net. Suns 3-for-3 from downtown, lead 17-10.
  • 7:27: Smush Parker badly misses wild heave at the rim in the lane and Doug Collins comments on how bad he has been, making three of his last 20 shots in the series. Another Suns fast break, Nash finds Jones who nails another trey, 20-10 Suns. Lakers full timeout.
  • 5:58: Barbosa nails 2nd three-pointer of the quarter, Suns 5-for-5 from three-point range, lead 25-16.
  • 4:26: Barbosa heads to locker room after elbow to mouth by Kobe.
  • 2:56: Lakers on 9-3 run as Luke Walton makes layup, 28-25 Suns. Phoenix takes full timeout.
  • 1:46: Devean hits three-pointer from corner on beautiful assist from Lamar Odom. Tie game, 30-30.
  • 0:00: Lakers end quarter on 10-0 run as Kobe caps it off with a highly contested 30 foot fadeway three over Shawn Marion near scorer’s table.
  • 0:00: Lakers incredibly shoot 73% in the 1st quarter and out-rebound Suns 14-2. Wow.

Score after 1st quarter: Los Angeles Lakers 37, Phoenix Suns 30
