The NBA is considering a H-O-R-S-E competition on ESPN. Which Phoenix Suns player past or present would be the best H-O-R-S-E player?

It’s a weird time for everything, even Woj bombs. On Saturday afternoon, Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted out a story that the NBA is in talks with ESPN to work out a televised H-O-R-S-E competition involving several high-profile players. My mind immediately went to which Phoenix Suns player would be the best for this?

Obviously, the answer has to be Devin Booker because he can just shoot 35-footers and win in five shots. But would he be good at a between-the-legs-off-the-back-board-left-handed-nothing-but-net shot?

I dunno. That kind of razzle-dazzle is not exactly his M.O.

What about Ricky Rubio? He isn’t the best shot, but dude is full of tricks. When he first came into he league, he was likened to The Pistol, Pete Maravich, who coincidently, participated in an NBA-run H-O-R-S-E completion himself. Seriously. The YouTube clips are fascinating.

There is one verses George Gerwin, another against Bob McAdoo, and even one against a guy called Bubble Hawkins, who I admit I had to Google.

light. Also. Booker and Ayton are favorites to win the NBA2K Tourney

However, if you watch those H-O-R-S-E clips from the 1970s, while they are amazing from a nostalgia and bizarreness standpoint, the one key element they are lacking is personality.

That’s why I think Kelly Oubre would be the perfect Phoenix Suns player to participate in a televised H-O-R-S-E competition. He would be fun, creative, and with his improved jump shot he put on display this year especially in the clutch, he might actually be pretty dang good.

He’d probably be eccentric enough to try some Bird vs. Jordan McDonald’s commercial type stuff and it would be awesome.

Unfortunately, the likelihood of him playing is essentially nil, considering his meniscus tear, but one can dream.

If we were talking about previous players, there would be no better H-O-R-S-E player than Steve Nash. With his insane soccer skills, he would just call off-left-foot-off-right-foot-off-left-knee-off-right-knee-header-bank-nothing-but-net.

Honestly, he could probably win it even today. It’s not like you need blazing speed to win horse. My uncle used to run game at the YMCA against all the youngers in H-O-R-S-E. His granny-bank shot from anywhere on the court is still undefeated.

The Twitterverse didn’t react fondly to the idea, but honestly I think it’s a good idea. Anything that will put basketball players on my TV doing basketball things, I support. I’m melting in my own sportsless void over here.

Next. How the Phoenix Suns could still make the playoffs. dark

Make it happen, NBA.
