#3: Wizards Make Morris Feel at Home

Perpetrator: Washington Wizards
Victim: Markieff Morris

On April Fool’s Day 2016, the Markeiff Morris, then with the Washington Wizards, squared off against his former team, the Phoenix Suns. When I say former team, I mean very recent team.

Morris had just been traded to the Wizards about six weeks prior, a move that was a long time coming but accelerated due to shoving Archie Goodwin on the sidelines the week before. After already being bitter at the franchise for shipping off his twin brother, Marcus, it is safe to say Markeiff wasn’t feeling any strong kinship to the Suns when he returned to Phoenix play them wearing a different jersey.

This is where the Washington Wizards trickster equipment squad comes in. In a just-cruel-enough-to-be-funny-but-not-too-cruel-to-me-mean move, Morris walked into the visitors’ locker room and found his old Phoenix Suns jersey hanging up for him ready to wear.

Too soon? No. Perfectly timed, I say.

This is technically a Wizards prank and not a Suns prank, but it was too good and too closely linked with the franchise to pass up including in this list.

As with many things the last decade, the joke ended up being on the Suns. Morris posted 21 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks that day in the Wizards’ 106-99 victory.
