#5: Shaqtin a Fool: Youngster Goes After the Legend

Perpetrator: Lou Amundson
Victim: Shaquille O’Neal

Shaquille O’Neal is known for his pranks (well, his basketball skills too, but largely his pranks). Even in his post-playing career, he can be seen on TNT always goofing off with Charles Barkley and company. In 2009, however, he fell victim to yep, you guessed it: filling up their teammate’s vehicle with thousands of packaging peanuts.

The prank itself is solid. It doesn’t do any actual damage, is a visual spectacle, and comes as a huge surprise. Three great characteristics of a solid prank.

What is strange about this one is the people involved. Even though he was slightly past his prime when he was in Phoenix, Shaquille O’Neal is one of the best players in NBA history.

Lou Amundson is not.

Not unlike another former Phoenix Suns player, Tony Delk, Amundson played for 10 different teams in 10 year NBA career. Amundson averaged a whopping 3.7 points per game during his time in the league.

In 2009 when this happened, Amundson was in his third season in the NBA while Shaq was in his seventeenth. For a third year scrub to pull a prank like this on an NBA legend is the joke itself. Or maybe the real joke here is how big Almundson’s huevos are.
