The last time the Phoenix Suns made the playoffs was during 2009-2010 season. Let’s take a look back at what was truly a magical team.

Coming into the 2009-2010 NBA season, the Phoenix Suns had just missed the playoffs for the first time since bringing Steve Nash back. Marion was gone, Nash was turning 36 years old, Stoudemire had another injury-riddled season, and it was looking like the beginning of the end for the flashy Phoenix Suns.

Bleacher Report predicted the Suns to finish 8th in the West, assuming Amar’e would be healthy and Steve Nash would continue to be an elite point guard despite his age.

Nobody could have predicted what happened: this Suns group just clicked. They had the right blend of talent and chemistry and used that magic to surprise the world.

Phoenix had a group of talented guys, but there was a question about how much some of them had left in the tank. Six players were in their 6th year or greater.

On the other hand, the other nine guys had four or fewer years of experience, so it turned out to be a great mix of youth and veterans.

Even though they didn’t look like much on paper, this chemistry led to the last great team Suns fans have had to privilege to watch. Let’s go back and look at this last great Suns team.
