If the Phoenix Suns season is over, what did we learn?

The Suns still need a point guard

Signing Ricky Rubio this past offseason was a logical move due to the fact that the Phoenix Suns did not have a capable point guard. However, Rubio has been the equivalent to a rollercoaster at Six Flags this season. Sometimes he was up and sometimes he was down.

When Rubio is great, this team runs like a well-oiled machine. He makes Booker better and provides stress relief for him.

However, when he is not great, the team struggles.

What would be an ideal situation is if Rubio was the team’s back-up moving forward and the Suns were able to bring in a superstar to run the point because we all know if there is one thing the Suns do not have, it is a back-up point guard.

Assuming that won’t happen, Rubio needs to keep building on his good season with a little more consistency.

Ever since the lost Gorgan Dragic, the Phoenix Suns have not found a back-up point guard that does what back-up point guards are supposed to do. Jevon Carter has come close this season, providing a spark off the bench, knocking down an occasional 3, and being a pest defensively. However, it is yet to be determined if he is the longterm solution to run the second unit.

Ricky has been very good this season, however, there is a question in my mind if he is the right person to lead the Suns to a championship.
