If the Phoenix Suns season is over, what did we learn?

Deandre Ayton continues to confuse

Deandre Ayton has been the most confusing player on this Suns team all year because when you watch him play so many thoughts run through your head.

Sometimes he looks dominant and shows us why he was the number one overall pick. At times, he excels at protecting the rim, running the floor, finishing at a very efficient level, and playing with a fierceness that could elevate him to another level.

However, sometimes you watch him and become frustrated. For example, when he has a smaller player defending him and opts for a fadeaway jumper rather than makings a post-move. Also, his inconstancy to aggressively rebound, attack the rim, and dunk with authority can be mind-boggling.

Of course, the most inconsistent part of his game has been his availability. A lot of that isn’t necessarily his fault, but frustrating nonetheless.

Ayton is a player that truly wants to become great in this league, and he has the potential. However, how long are the Suns going to ride his potential? Ayton has shown us how he is capable of playing, but he has shown us the opposite side as well.

If the season were to be over, I am not sure the Suns organization would even know where to stand with him based on this season.
