Rested Ricky Rubio

Outside of the plethora of players who are on the injured list, no one on the Phoenix Suns needed a break more than Ricky Rubio.

The proud Spaniard led his national team to the FIBA World Cup this summer, and while I’m sure he wouldn’t trade that time for anything, you have to think that lack of a break in the offseason is taking its toll on him at this point in the season.

Ever since he became a father for the first time, Rubio has been in a bit of a slump. But what could be interpreted as a slump, could also just be tiredness. With no consistently reliable backup point guard, Rubio has had to shoulder most of the floor general responsibilities and minutes.

Whether it is strategic resting or a viable backup, Ricky Rubio needs some help out there but barring tanking, it likely isn’t coming anytime soon.

That rest, instead, came in the form of the All-Star break. It is unknown if a private retreat is where he spent his time, but you can bet it was probably with his newborn son.

Hopefully, this time off gives him the rest he needs to get him back to the Rubio fans saw at the beginning of the season when he led this team to more wins than losses.
