DA: Dominate & Attempts (from the free throw line)

Speaking of good numbers, Deandre Ayton followed up his impressive 20-20 game with another big night. The big man finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds, but that wasn’t even the best part.

He shot 11 free throws. 11!

He only shot 17 free throws total throughout his entire (abbreviated) season coming into the night. He got there by only settling for fadeaway mid range jumpers a couple of times and instead, making aggressive moves to the basket. On top of that, he made almost all of them (10 to be exact). Hats off to the big man.

He could have easily scored over 30 points had his teammates acted ever thrown a lob pass before. A few times Ayton was awaiting an ally-oop but had to instead do everything he could just to keep the ball from going out-of-bounds due to errant heaves from his teammates.

Deandre Ayton is starting to quiet his detractors and his team is getting wins because of it.

Then again, he did miss a layup that would have given Devin Booker his first career triple-double, but I’ll let those two figure that one out.
