The Roster Construction is Smart
As an extension of the previous point, James Jones is drafting and signing players to help build a complete roster and not bringing in players based solely on potential talent and a disregard for roster need.
Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges and Kelly Oubre complement this Suns roster very well. Ricky Rubio is a point guard with the skills to improve others and helps promote the correct attitude.
In underestimated moves, James Jones got rid of players he felt didn’t buy into the culture that is being cultivated in the organization. Long term, this vision of team-building should serve the Suns well.
The Phoenix Suns won 19 games in the 2018/2019 season. They are on pace to win 32 games, a 13 game improvement in the 2019/2020 season. The Suns have the right ingredients for a competitive team…in the future. Suns fans have reason to be excited for their team, but some patience will be required.
