Booker is a Superstar

The Suns’ future is directly tied to 23-year-old Devin Booker, and yes, Devin Booker is an NBA superstar. The national media may be slow to recognize Booker’s credentials, but a look at the numbers and the eye test clearly shows Devin Booker is a superstar in the NBA.

Booker is averaging 26.1 point per game (8th) on a true shooting percentage of .671, doing so as a three-level scorer. He is also handing out 6.4 assists per game and grabbing 3.8 rebounds per game.

The eye test shows that Devin Booker has an uncanny ability to close out games, a need for all championship level NBA teams. The game against the Orlando Magic was a clear example, hitting two 3s and having a big defensive stop in the last-minute of the game.

Offense is Booker’s calling card, but this year we are seeing him become a better defender, at least passable on that end. This is the type of superstar who does not put up empty numbers, but efficient, winning numbers on a properly constructed team.

Guys like Booker are tough to come by, and the Suns have a 23-year-old guy who will be around for years. Old school numbers, advanced metrics, and the eye test show that Devin Booker has clearly staked his claim to NBA stardom.
