Three theories as to why the Phoenix Suns are not mentioned with Karl-Anthony Towns – yet

The Devin Booker Angle

If you watch Phoenix Suns games, you can see sure and clear that Devin Booker is not having much fun.

He does not celebrate hard with success like he once did, and he does not seem to show any  emotion when they lose.

Although it is all from afar, it seems that he is just going through the motions waiting either for something to happen with the roster (that is a big trade to shake things up), or until he feels like it is the right time to demand a trade and move on.

It is possible, therefore, that Devin Booker’s camp leaked the Warriors “monitoring” Towns to push the Phoenix Suns into attempting to swing a deal, ASAP.

If Booker has any inclination even in the back of his mind to demand a trade at some point in the future (whether it being by this trade deadline, this offseason, or even next year), and yet he still does either have a deep loyalty to the franchise or is fearful that a trade demand would hurt his reputation (I would completely disagree with that fear, but you never know, I suppose), he could thus be hopeful that a trade to acquire a second star that would anchor Booker in Phoenix long-term could be landed before a trade demand can ever come to fruition.

Of course, Karl-Anthony Towns is one of Booker’s best friends, and with the fact that the Phoenix Suns already passed on D’Angelo Russell once this past summer and likely therefore hav no interest in trading for him (plus they have a solid point guard in Ricky Rubio on the roster), and Towns definitely  being the more dominant player of the two non-Suns, then this leak could be a means of Booker’s camp to attempting to push the Suns into making a trade before the Warriors might, as that kind of a deal would not only lock both Towns and Russell in San Francisco for good, but might be the last straw for Booker to demand a trade in the future.
