#8: Ricky Rubio Triple-Double
Way back on December 16th, 2019, Ricky Rubio did something no other Suns player had done in nearly two years: record a triple-double.
Many have come close. Most notably Devin Booker and Kelly Oubre have come up either a rebound or an assist short, but no one was able to officially get over the hump until Rubio did it in an excruciating loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
Rubio finished that game with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists, even though I’m sure he would be the first to forgo that honor in exchange for a Suns win.
The reason this made the 2019 best-of list is because of its rarity. No one during last season notched a triple-double and I bet you can’t remember the last guy who did it the season before.
Of all people, Elfrid Payton was the last Phoenix Suns player to accomplish this feat way back on March 4, 2018 against the Atlanta Hawks in yet another heart-breaking, one-point loss.
Hopefully for the Phoenix Suns, this will be one of many more to come and a sign that this is not the same team as last year.
