Tyler Johnson

Lump of Coal

Tyler Johnson has been a bad boy this year. Not the kind of cool bad boy Mark Jackson talks about when he says, “Mama, there goes that man.” Like, legit disappointing.

Johnson is averaging a career worst 6.1 points and 2 assists per game, but honestly, those numbers make him look better than he’s actually playing.

Recently, he has found himself out of the rotation and demoted to end-of-the-bench hype guy. Perhaps he wasn’t a very good listener to new head coach Monty Williams.

So, if there is anyone on the team Santa Claus and the other Phoenix Suns fans of the world would give a lump of coal to, it is most certainly Tyler Johnson.

The Suns are paying him a lot of money to ride the pine. He is due $19.25 million this year, and he seems content with just collecting his loot and staying quiet. He will also likely be the center of whatever trade the organization might have in mind before the deadline in order to acquire someone who can help the team now.

So instead of a lump of coal, James Jones might be soon gifting Tyler Johnson a one-way plane ticket.
