Power Forward
Dario Saric, Cheick Diallo, and Frank Kaminsky for Al Horford, Mike Scott, and Jonah Bolden
At 33-years-old, Al Horford is the kind of pickup you hope the Phoenix Suns are in position to make within the next couple of seasons; that James Jones senses the team is so close to being a legitimate contender that he is willing to throw a few young players (and/or picks) at a veteran that can help put the team over the top, or sign someone in free agency to a near max, like Philly did with Horford.
At the moment, it is pretty safe to say that he is better than every other power forward on the Phoenix Suns’ roster though, so a swap today in that regard would be ideal.
Thus, even without discussion of depth (which is generally mediocre at best for both franchises): the Phoenix Suns would swap power forward groups with Philadelphia.
If you want to take age into consideration, though, Saric is seven-years younger, and the fact that he is a better 3-point shooter than Horford, is a nose-to-the-grindstone defender, and is a heckova lot cheaper, things might shift into the opposite direction.
There is no guarantee that the Phoenix Suns will re-sign Saric this offseason as they might look to trade for his replacement or sign someone in free agency, which in the near-term would actually make the thought of giving up on a young, cheap, stretch-four a difficult idea to swallow.
Therefore, would the Phoenix Suns swap power forward position groups: It would be a push depending only on if the Suns were trying to win now, or in the future.
