5 reasons the Phoenix Suns were prudent in not re-signing Dario Saric
By Adam Maynes
How do we know the Phoenix Suns won’t just draft their next power forward anyway
Let us all maintain our honesty about this team and remind ourselves (for the millionth time) that they are not good enough to make the playoffs in 2020.
Sure, miracles happen, however one does not appear likely with this team this season considering the absolute gauntlet that is the Western Conference.
So, whether they win 19 games again or manage to win 45, if the Phoenix Suns miss the playoffs, they will be in the lottery for the tenth year in a row.
Thanks, Ryan McDonough.

James Jones could have an idea in place already as to who he is going to target in the draft – especially if he finds himself high in the pecking (or picking) order.
Who is to say that Jones won’t have a chance to draft James Wiseman, Jaden McDaniels, or Jalen Smith?
Sure, I know we are all sick of rebuilding through the draft, but that isn’t what James Jones is doing.
By not extending Dario Saric now, Jones could be setting up his cards in to allow him to do whatever possible to draft one of the potential stud power forwards in the 2020 lottery, expecting that his team is not built to make a playoff run this year.
Certainly he should not expect to draft one of those players as he has no idea how this season will truly unfold, and projecting NBA talent before a player has even played a moment of college ball is a fool’s errand.
But by waiting on the extension of Saric, Jones is placing himself in a position to keep both options open.
I for one hope that Saric is the perfect power forward for the system that I (again) hope Monty Williams is going to unleash beginning opening night.
Until we know for sure though, I do contend that not extending Dario Saric was the prudent move for James Jones; yet I am excited for the next 82 games to see whether or not he (and I) am right.
