Southwest Division

San Antonio Spurs

When will the San Antonio Spurs just go awaaaaaaaay. Ugh…

That said, the Suns have managed to play the Spurs rather well over this long period of futility, and while they haven’t won two games over San Antonio in the same season since 2009-10 (when they won the season series 2-1), they have won one game in six of the last nine years, including a 20 points win (with the series ending with a two-point loss).

I will make the easy prediction that the Spurs are on the down slope of their dynasty and are actually nowhere near winning a title anymore, and with that being the case, if the Suns and Spurs play four times, I will then make the difficult prediction that Phoenix will win two games and tie the season series.

Much like the franchise’s recent history has painted the Phoenix Suns in a negative light in the upcoming season than they really will be, the Spurs also get credit for their recent history as well even if they aren’t as good as they have been in the past either.

Therefore I do not believe that it would at all be out of the realm of possibility for the Suns to not only take one win but two against Gregg Popovich this year, which if nothing else is a one-win improvement over last year and, hey – baby steps.

Prediction: 2-2.
