Small Forward

Mikal Bridges, Josh Jackson

I know that every expects Josh Jackson to be gone, but until he is, he remains on the roster, and he must be expected to play regardless of the pall that he has brought down upon himself.

Fans really do want Kelly Oubre to return as well, and if he does, he will more than likely immediately take the starting small forward spot moving both Bridges and Jackson down the depth chart.

However, at the moment, like Daniels, Kelly is still a restricted free agent and nobody within the Phoenix Suns organization has made any public overtures for his retention. Plus, if James Jones is able to snag that big-time point guard and needs max money to make it happen, there is a good chance that Bridges’ rights will be renounced to open up the necessary cap space.

Which leads up to Mikal Bridges as a worthy starting small forward, and potentially the best of the bunch – even including Oubre.

Although he only shot 33.5% from beyond the arc last season, I fully expect Bridges’ shooting to take a step forward this season – making him the solid and ever-necessary in the modern NBA 3 and D player that he has been projected to develop into.
