This final trade is basically a salary dump for the Phoenix Suns while it adds talent to a competitive Eastern Conference team just hoping to keep their collective head’s above water during their upcoming year off without star point guard John Wall.

For the Suns, this would give them a chance to maybe acquire one of those bigger stars that right now they cannot afford through trade, in the direct opposite approach that they would be working from in this deal.

The salary dumping of Warren and Jackson opens up nearly $20 million in cap space right away (Troy Brown Jr. will make about $3.2 million this season) which could then allow them to offer Tyler Johnson’s expiring contract for a player like for Chris Paul as Phoenix will have a bit more cap space to take on his exploding contract for the next three years.

The cap savings too might allow them instead to re-sign Kelly Oubre and target a player like Julius Randle with a fill-in point guard such as Ricky Rubio, who I believe can not only be a long-term answer at point guard, but a cheap one at that.

A third possibility could be D’Angelo Russell with Kelly Oubre, but then a lesser power forward, like Anthony Tolliver.

Next. Does Jordan Clarkson know something about D'Angelo Russell to the Phoenix Suns that we don't?. dark

If the Phoenix Suns are truly asking for trades with a combined package of T.J. Warren and Josh Jackson, these three (plus a bonus) trades should be ones that James Jones should take a shot at.
