One trade the Phoenix Suns could complete on draft day with every team

Atlanta Hawks

As I have written about recently, the Atlanta Hawks are an embarrassment of first round draft pick riches in 2019, something that the Phoenix Suns could attempt to tap into.

If the Suns were to trade back with Atlanta, they’d essentially be trading quality over quantity, although if you (or they) do not believe that there is a difference maker at number six, why waste the pick if it can be traded?

In this case, Phoenix could offer Atlanta number’s six and 32 for eight and ten.

My presumption is that Atlanta, who already has a ridiculously (Trae) Young core, doesn’t necessarily want to add two-mid lottery picks, plus the 17th overall that they’ve now got after their trade with Brooklyn.

For the Hawks, they get a better lottery ticket at six, then the chance to pick a draft-and-stash at 32, while the Suns get two lesser lottery tickets at eight and ten, and while I do not necessarily want Phoenix to add two mid-lottery picks to the roster either, James Jones at least gets to put his scouting acumen on display, and if he nails those two picks unlike his predecessor in 2016, then the franchise will be better for it.
