One trade the Phoenix Suns could complete on draft day with every team
By Adam Maynes
The NBA Draft is only days away (June 20) and the Phoenix Suns have a number off needs they need to fill – and a number of assets with which to work with.
Suns fans have have been dying for a big splash or two to help make Phoenix relevant again, and what better way to do it than on draft night where General Manager James Jones can either select a future cornerstone piece at number six, or use the pick among other assets to trade for those players to help improve the future outlook of the team.
Fortunately, if Jones does want to trade his pick, he has a number of options, these being just a select few that are at least realistic enough to actually happen on draft night.
Unfortunately, in the process of researching and wiring this piece, the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans came together on a blockbuster trade that I originally wanted the Suns to be a part of, specifically as a way of landing their point guard of the future in Lonzo Ball.
The trade actually messed up a couple of ones that I had already mapped out, but in turn, also brought about a few different options that hadn’t been available before.
Not all of these trades are for a star (I attempted to aim for stars when possible, but again, I focused as closely in on realism as possible), and not all trades are for a player that can be added to the roster that day to make the Phoenix Suns better immediately.
However, these all make the Phoenix Suns better one way or another, they place players in the right situations, and they utilize picks as best as possible.
This is one trade James Jones and the Phoenix Suns can make on draft day, with every team.
