Philadelphia 76ers

This is an odd trade because of all the secondary movements that need to take place for all the pieces to fall into place, but one that still does make sense for all three teams.

In this deal the Pelicans do not receive any first round picks, so they are acquiring all of their pieces in one fell swoop. That said, they get the guaranteed best player from any of these trade offers in point guard Ben Simmons – who would be just as great to pair up with Zion as he is with Joel Embiid.

New Orleans once again gets two very good 3-point shooters in Warren and now Zhaire Smith, giving Simmons shooters to dish to consistently.

The Phoenix Suns’ interest is only in basically salary dumping T.J. Warren’s contract by acquiring the 76ers’ first round pick (24th overall), which is one part of why this trade is particularly odd.

The Suns would only make this trade if they had a guaranteed deal for either Julius Randle or Tobias Harris, with Harris being my particular favorite of the two due to his own outside shooting prowess.

The Sixers too would need to renounce Harris’ rights while concurrently working on a guaranteed max contract agreement from Jimmy Butler.

If Butler and Harris both agree ahead of time to signing with Phoenix and Philadelphia respectively, this deal could work.
