Phoenix Suns Draft Primer: Coby White
His fit with the Phoenix Suns
Phoenix had a tumultuous year shooting from beyond the arc, ranking last in the league in 3-point percentage, according to Basketball Reference, so adding a lights-out shooter in Coby White would immediately be an improvement in that department.

White also gives the Suns a playmaking point guard who can operate a pick-and-roll offense with Ayton and take some of the pressure off of Booker and his need to try and score since no one else has really been able to since he entered the league.
Coby would give Phoenix a shooter that opponents have to respect, freeing up the paint for Ayton to utilize post moves and provide the spacing necessary for Booker to weave in and out of off-ball screens to find open looks.
Unfortunately, offense is only half of the story in basketball.
The Suns have struggled for years with defensive intensity, ranking a putrid second-to-last in defensive efficiency last year – and White isn’t exactly a lock-down defender.
Coby held his own against most of the collegiate guards he faced but may struggle facing some of the speedy floor generals the NBA has to offer.
With Booker already a liability in that department, opposing backcourts might be licking their chops going up against the Suns.
