#4 Wally Szczerbiak (1999 NBA Draft)

Wally Szczerbiak, a 6-foot-7 wing, was a scrappy player and a legit three-point shooter who lasted 10 seasons in the NBA with four different teams.

As a rookie, he shot 51.1 percent from the field and averaged 11.6 points per game. Straight out of the gates, he showed he was going to contribute with his shooting and scoring. This led him to being named to the All-Rookie First Team in 2000.

He continued to show forward progress and by his third year in the league, he was shooting 45.5 percent from deep and averaging 18.7 points per game, which got him selected as an All-Star in 2002.

Over his career he played in 651 games and started 393, averaging 14.1 points per game on 48-40-86 shooting splits. He had such a smooth stroke and was fun to watch. He also had swag that he brought to the team, similar to what Oubre provided for the Suns this past season.

If Phoenix gets a player like Wally with the sixth pick, then they did well. Let’s just hope whoever the Suns select has ankles that hold up as sadly Szczerbiak had multiple surgeries on his ankles and it greatly affected his shooting and jumping ability, leading to his career not lasting as long as he or fans would have liked.
