It’s official. The Phoenix Suns will select sixth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. Who are the best players in history selected #6?

Add last night to the list of disappointments that we have had to suffer and endure as Phoenix Suns fans.

After a long, brutal season that saw the team only win 19 games, one thing that we looked forward to was the NBA Draft and possibly winning the Zion Williamson sweepstakes. Or, at least a very nice consolation prize in Ja Morant that would fill the hole at point guard.

Last night was the NBA Draft Lottery and fans kept their fingers crossed and hoped, just hoped that the ping pong balls would fall in their favor. Sadly, they did not.

Not only did the franchise not get the number one pick (missing out on Zion), they didn’t even get a top-5 pick (likely missing out on both Morant and R.J. Barrett).

The team holds the sixth overall pick in the upcoming draft. What can they do with that? Sixth? Really? Come on!

However, it’s not all negative so hold your heads up fans. It’s no secret that there have been better players selected further down in the draft, or at least really good players if not better than the top picks. The Suns could very well still end up with a game changer should they keep the pick.

Let’s take a look at the best players in NBA history that were selected with the sixth overall pick in the draft.

*Note – Vince Carter is the oldest active player in the league. He was drafted back in 1998, so I used that for a timeline. This list is for players drafted from 1998 to 2018.*

Honorable Mention – Buddy Hield (2016 NBA Draft)

I only put him in this section for now because he needs to show me more and I’m focusing on players that have been in the league for more than a few seasons. However, he can quickly climb up this list if he continues to grow on the play that he showed this past season.

He shot 42.7 percent from downtown, nailing 3.4 threes per game to average 20.7 points along with 5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

Buddy Hield is a BIG reason why the Sacramento Kings made a leap forward this year.

He’s only 26-years-old and the future is looking very bright for him.
