What makes this uniform stand out so vibrantly is that they are simple, although fashionably so.

Unlike the original unis that had the plain PHOENIX font across the chest, by 1973 the font had evolved to the “western” font that Suns fans so well know and love, a look that was both classic in design, but unique in it’s presentation.

Being a team from a city in the “Wild West,” the PHOENIX font with the sunbursts on the shorts perfectly encapsulated the essence of Phoenix, and Arizona, as a whole. The colors of purple in orange that represent the beautiful desert sunsets, are the perfect color pallet for the uniform that for many in the Valley of the Suns, will forever be their favorite look.

What sets this one so far apart from it’s home counterpart that is eighth on this list, is that the purple fabric with the orange letters, numbers, and sunbursts, really makes the whole uniform look purely iconic Suns. Most home jersey’s can’t pull that off since the home is so dominated by white. But when a road jersey does it right, then it really is an awesome Suns sight to behold.
