The Phoenix Suns have had too many of these blowout losses and they need to move past them. Next season, they shouldn’t lose like this.

Last night, the Phoenix Suns played the Rockets in Houston. Fans knew it was going to be ugly and it sure was. It’s no stretch at all to say that the Rockets are a much better team than the Suns, especially being that Phoenix is missing six of their best players to close the season.

The team lost by 36 points, which is just 1 point shy of their worst loss of the season, when they fell by 37 points to the Nuggets in Denver on January 25.

This season alone, the franchise has had way too many of these kinds of losses. The Suns have 20 losses by at least 20 points, 10 losses by 25 points or more and 5 losses by a depressing 30 or more points. Their 5 worst losses of the season were by an average of 34 points. That’s just sad.

There are many excuses but you know what they say about those. Name an excuse for this season’s team and fans will buy it. That is a problem and the team needs to address it this summer. Whatever they need to do, they must do. There is no doubt about it.

No one expects the Suns to be a contender next year, though in fans’ wildest dreams that is a possibility. Not a single fan can say with absolute confidence that the team will make the playoffs next season but the front office needs to do all they can to chase that as a goal.

The Suns, at the very least, need to be competitive night in and night out. These losses, no excuses, need to be a thing of the past. If they aren’t then the team may be looking at their absolute worst loss as Devin Booker pulls an Eric Bledsoe and says he doesn’t want to be here.

At this point, would you blame him? It’d be pretty hard to put the fault on his hands. He’s stuck around and the Suns need to reward his loyalty. It’ll be difficult to convince any solid free agent to want to come here but they need to do all they can to try. If not, they need to look at making trades to bring that assistance to their franchise player.

There are some solid prospects, two named Ja Morant and Zion Williamson, that are studs coming up in this draft but rookies aren’t always able to help right away.

Whatever needs to be done must be done and the Phoenix Suns need to make sure that when they start next season, these losses are a thing of the past.
