Devin Booker took part in All-Star Weekend’s Saturday night festivities, participating in the 3-Point Shootout. What did his performance show?

Fans of the Phoenix Suns got a little taste of the action on All-Star Weekend Saturday night, getting to see Devin Booker, the face of the franchise, represent the team in the 3-Point Shootout.

He came into the event looking to defend his title as he won the crown last season, scoring an all-time record 28 points. Even though he had an upper edge as he won the year before, he was in a way an underdog. Out of all of the participants, he had one of the worst percentages from downtown this season. Through the 2018-19 campaign, he’s made just 32.5% of his long range shots, which is almost a 6% drop from his 38.3% clip last season.

Devin got off to a slow start as he missed several shots on the first two racks. He caught fire late as he made all five shots on the “money rack”. It seems like that story line may have been expected as a Sun, falling into an early deficit to fight back but ultimately lose. Suns fans have grown accustomed to that kind of result, haven’t we?

Booker ended up scoring 23 points, which was a good score overall but just not good enough to keep his crown. The other participants were putting up some good scores. That also seems like a pattern, with him scoring a bunch of points but being on the losing side of the competition.

He lost in the first round, unfortunately. Congratulations to Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets as he is the new champion, winning over Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

One positive that fans can take away from this is that he did catch fire late. After seeing such a dip this season compared to last, maybe he can use the momentum to finish the season off strong and get his three point shooting back up to around that 38 percent to end the season and get ready for the next one.

Next. The Phoenix Suns are NOT losing because of Devin Booker. dark

Good effort, Booker. However, it wasn’t enough and another player has the 3-Point Shootout title now. Congratulations, Harris.
