The Phoenix Suns are in the midst of their worst season in history, and Jody Oehler of 910am has a radical idea that just might be the thing that gets this franchise back on track.

The Phoenix Suns are on pace to lose 67 games, more than any other team in the franchise’s history – potentially surpassing the inaugural season of 66.

Having missed the playoffs for each of the past eight seasons, and with only two losses from being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs this season, their future is far more bleak than it is bright, and only something radical this offseason could make this a playoff team in 2019-20.

Of course, signing a superstar free agent like Kevin Durant could do the trick, but Durant would have to choose  Phoenix over other teams (such as Golden State) who are much farther along in the competitive process, so the chances of such a signing are probably less than you winning the next Powerball.

But what if the Suns acquired a superstar through trade? What if they were able to nab a player who would change the course of the franchise immediately, finally setting the Suns on the path of competitive basketball and likely playoffs beginning next season?

First off, I want to reiterate: this is Jody Oehler’s idea and I want to give him all the credit for it. I have some additional thoughts on it that I will share here, but I recommend to everybody who does not listen to Oehler to absolutely tune in, and if you want to hear his segment on this idea, please click on the tweet below:

Secondly, I really think that this idea is a good one. It is absolutely radical, but as he puts it, radical losing leads to the necessity for radical changes, and this franchise has absolutely reached a point where such radical change is not only necessary, but by many fans: demanded.

I do not want to spoil the experience of listening to his idea from him, so please listen to the segment in the link above, and I will give you my thoughts – and expand on his idea some – on the next page.
