Utah Jazz

There are very few point guards that would be ideal for the 2018-19 season alone, and Ricky Rubio is one of them.

A pass-centric point guard who would help the offense flow in a way that they haven’t been accustomed to yet under Igor Kokoskov, Rubio would be perfect for this season as a short-term answer while they seek a long-term solution.

Totally unselfish, as a veteran he would be a good leader in the locker room who could be counted on to make sure that his teammates get theirs before he gets him.

More importantly, he played under Igor Kokoskov last season in Utah so he is familiar with the Suns’ new Head Coach and would presumably come in with a level of comfort that would prevent as much of a learning curve that most outsiders probably would have to deal with.

His offense has been absolutely horrible to start the season (he’s shooting 30.9% from the field), although he is still averaging a fair amount of assists per game (7.5).

If the Jazz feel their system can survive without him, then his poor start to 2018-19 might be the perfect reason for them to trade him, especially since he is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

Phoenix could probably offer a protected first round pick to get it done, although if Utah needed a player in return, Dragan Bender could suffice.

Maybe the Jazz consider a trade of Ricky Rubio too as a way to wane Dante Exum back, potentially making him the starter.
