Portland Trailblazers

Listen, I’m going to hold out hope until the day it is proven to be physically impossible: I want the Suns to trade for Damian Lillard.

Short of Stephen Curry, I believe that Lillard is the best point guard in the NBA and above all others would make the Suns the best team they could possibly be after only one point guard transaction.

I have said many times though that the only way the Suns could get their hands on him is if the Blazers absolutely tank into non-playoff disrepair and Lillard finally decides to give up on them demanding a trade.

At that point Phoenix would have a trade advantage as the Blazers would be dealing from a position of weakness, and James Jones could swoop in and make an offer that they can’t refuse: two future first round picks, Josh Jackson, and any other contracts needed to match Lillard’s not connected to Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, or T.J. Warren.

Other than Lillard, Seth Curry would provide veteran experience, although he’s basically Isaiah Canaan. Nik Stauskas would be awesome, but he’s primarily a scorer and shooting guard and doing great for Portland right now (10.2 points and 47.4% from 3).
