The player all Suns fans want is Goran Dragic. A former Sun and fan favorite, veteran Dragic knows Phoenix well, is still beloved here, and plays under Igor Kokoskov on the Slovenian national team.

Truthfully, there is no better veteran short-term fit anywhere else in the NBA and would be the absolute perfect player to acquire.

However, his contract next season would kill Phoenix’s cap space this summer meaning the trade would have to be a contract swap in order for the Suns to accept it.

Could the Heat be enticed to take Ryan Anderson‘s contract? He and Dragic’s deals are similar enough that while the Suns would saving a couple of bucks this season, they would be losing some $4 million in cap space next year. Maybe the Heat would be willing to throw in a second round pick? Or maybe a third team can be involved to take on another contract somewhere along the line to save the Suns some money this offseason allowing them to still make a move in free agency?

Unfortunately every way I look at it Dragic’s contract gets in the way (and why would the Heat be willing to give up a legitimate starting point guard for Ryan Anderson who might be out of the league at 32 next season?)

They probably wouldn’t, so I just don’t know how it would work out.

That said, I wouldn’t be upset at all if it did.
