Most Phoenix Suns fans aren’t happy with the team right now, and according to Twitter, neither is Richaun Holmes’ family.
Richaun Holmes has a really interesting family. Interesting in a good way. His mother, Dr. Lydecia Holmes, is a fun Twitter follow and has previously had great insights on The Burner, a Sixers podcast from Philly Front Office. His brother, Richard Holmes, also has some interesting thoughts on Richaun and the Phoenix Suns on Twitter.
And as it turns out, the two of them feel the same way we do when watching the Suns. They’re pretty clearly frustrated with the team’s play. And they’re definitely not pleased with Richaun’s lack of minutes. They always tweet thoughts during games, but Saturday night’s game against the Grizzlies showed even more irritation.
Richard Holmes retweeted this Tweet, begging the Suns to play Richaun more.
He also retweeted this one, specifically pointing out Ryan Anderson and Tyson Chandler as players who should be playing less.
And richaun Holmes should get some of Anderson and chandlers minutes

Richard also was extremely frustrated with Igor Kokoskov’s lineup decisions, sending out multiple Tweets about the rotation.
Y not use an uptempo young center in this game vs Memphis.

#Suns 1-4 and it appears we are not going to change the lineups

Great game to play #Holmes in... guess Igar is not ready for that yet

I mean 10 mins for an energy guy in 5games while we getting blown out by 20 every night....c'mon man something hast to change bro

Switch it up coach. Let's see what bender has in the regular season. Let's see what Holmes has. He's a vet also
— Richard Holmes (@brich44) October 28, 2018
He also hit the mark on this Tweet about the team’s lack of effort.
I mean it's only been 5 games. But you cant teach #Energyandeffort

Perhaps his most interesting comments of the night were his thoughts on Deandre Ayton. He initially sent out a Tweet that seemingly accused Ayton of stat-chasing.
I cant wait to come to phoenix next week ...I have a lot on my mind to say about this. I'm glad ayton plays to get his numbers
— Richard Holmes (@brich44) October 28, 2018
He later corrected this Tweet in a reply to me that walked back that claim.
It should say I'm glad ayton plays AND gets his numbers.....
— Richard Holmes (@brich44) October 28, 2018
And to be completely fair, he did have objectively good things to say about Ayton as well. He even suggests playing him at the same time as Richaun Holmes, which is an interesting idea. If nothing else, that would be a super fun front court.
Ayton is impressive man...would love to see him and Holmes on the court together

Dr. Holmes has previously mentioned her unhappiness with Richaun’s playing time, but she wasn’t as active on Twitter during Saturday night’s game. Still, it only took one Tweet for her to sum up how the rest of us felt watching that game.
This is just something. I tell ya!
— Dr. Lydecia Holmes (@DrLydecia) October 28, 2018
It’s fair for the Holmes family to be unhappy with their son’s lack of playing time. They have a point. Richaun Holmes is young and has some potential. At the very least he brings energy. There’s no reason he should be losing his minutes to Tyson Chandler.
Richard Holmes and Dr. Lydecia Holmes are both good Twitter follows for Phoenix Suns fans and any other Richaun Holmes fans. They provide a unique prospective close to a frustrated player on a struggling team. Sure, they aren’t happy with the Suns, but who could blame them? You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who is.
